Myths, Mysteries & Magic - An Art & I.T. Animation Project
A myth is a story with a purpose. It tries to explain the way the world is. Myths also try to explain the relationship between gods and humans. Even though the events in a myth are usually impossible, they try to send a message that has an important social or religious meaning.
Myths are part of the curriculum for 3rd grade students, so as an extension of that learning we created this Art and I.T. project. The goal was to extend their learning, while teaching essential art content (drawing figures in proportion/to scale) and stretching students technical skill and creativity. Just check out some of the various elements of the project:
It was a long project - one that tested student skill as well as persistence and focus, but in the end they were thrilled with the outcome. We hope you can take a minute (they're really short, so a minute is all you'll need) to view the project with your child.
Enjoy!!

The goal was to extend their learning, while teaching essential art content (drawing figures in proportion/to scale) and stretching students technical skill and creativity. Just check out some of the various elements of the project:
- Develop an idea for a god or goddess, including what his/her "power" should be.
- Draw the character with proper human proportions.
- Compose a character description.
- Edit scanned images of character to remove background and segment body parts and additional drawn elements
- Create a custom animation in the program Frames
- Export project as mov file.
- Import project into iMovie to add titles and music.
