Rebus Resolutions
Students in 3rd grade were asked to come up with a New Year's Resolution and then use the website, myRebus, to create a rebus puzzle from their sentence. A rebus puzzle is one that uses pictures to represent words or parts of words. With the simple click of a button, the program creates one and allows the capability to share via email and social media.
The lesson goal was to have a little fun sharing our resolutions, but there was a great deal of technical learning involved as well. Students were asked to open a web browser, navigate to a specific page on the site, open an additional tab and navigate between the 2. Upon completing their rebus, they were asked to email the rebus using the edit menu to copy and paste information, navigate back to our website, refresh the page, work with a partner to solve puzzles and submit an online form with solutions.
